Deposits and Refunds A $35 deposit is due when you first register for a program or a course. This deposit is then applied towards your tuition. If you need to withdraw from a course, all tuition is fully refundable except for the $35 deposit. However, you may use the deposit as a credit towards any course you wish to take with us in the future, or towards any merchandise purchased through the school. Payment MethodsPayment may be made by check, money order, travelers check, or credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Checks should be made payable to The School for Body-Mind Centering® or SBMC. Checks or money orders from foreign countries must be in U.S. dollars and payable through a U.S. bank. Checks returned by our bank are subject to a $15 charge. Self-Study Students are expected to continue their exploration of the material through the year. During each course a large amount of information is presented. Embodiment is guided in the classes but in-depth experience takes place over time in the process of one's explorations outside the class structure, including the time at home as you work with the material on your own, apply it with others, and let the experience from your class time deepen and grow. Student Background The certification program is designed for people who already have some experience with movement, bodywork or other body-mind disciplines. The level of experience among students varies. However, there are several qualities that are important:
Prior experience with Body-Mind Centering® Many courses in our programs may be taken individually with no prior experience with Body-Mind Centering®. Sensing, Feeling and Action The book, Sensing Feeling and Action, by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen is required reading in all programs and we recommend that students read it to get a general background before attending. The book is available from the School - $35 plus shipping and handling ($5 for U.S. orders and $15 for international orders). We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Planning Financial planning is important in undertaking an educational program and in succeeding in the professional world. In the past, students have financed the program through current earnings, savings, gifts and loans from family and friends, personal loans from banks or other financial institutions. Students have also, through their own initiative, gained grants from private, public and governmental organizations. Please note: Program and course information is accurate at the time of writing. It may be subject to change without notice. The School reserves the right to make adjustments as necessary, including changes in scheduling, location, tuition, and course offerings and program content and requirements.
